It's no lie, we have been partaking in quite a bit of beer drinking in Amsterdam - but I'll let Sam tell you all about that. Anyhow, what excuse do you have when the breweries are built into windmills?
Other than sampling the fine ales, we have been getting to know our way around some of Amsterdam's little districts. Our accommodation is close to the Jordaan, which is a very quaint little area with lovely restaurants, cozy cafes, vintage clothing stores and very beautiful canal-side streets.

It's also lovely to see how much the Dutch love their pets, and how common it is to see resident kitties in the shops and cafes (especially black cats - I wonder if they are considered lucky here?). Even as I type, the sweetest 17 year old fluff-ball, Yasir, is sitting at the end of our bed keeping us company.
We sat down for dinner at an Italian restaurant the other night and this friendly fellow decided to join us at the table (at the head, no less)
