Pickle world!

Today I am going to tell you a tale about a magical world known as 'Pickle World'. At Pickle World, the local people have been making pickles of many varieties for centuries, and you can sample many amazing pickles here. Pickle World is set amongst a number of canals, so the best way to get around Pickle World is to hire a boat and paddle your way from pickle house to beer garden. At Pickle World you can sample anything from pickled ginger mustard to pickle beer.

And you know the best part of this story?

Pickle World is a real place. It's true!

Spreewald (ok, so Pickle World is just our name for it) is about an hour's drive south of Berlin and is well known for its famous pickles. Upon arrival we took a walk around this cute traditional town (with pickle market stalls up and down the streets) then hired a boat to get around the many canals of the area. We soon realised that none of us are champion-rower material, and we stopped at a little local shop for drinks, bratwurst, and of course, pickles. With our energy recharged, we continued through canals that went by many sweet old-style homes and even beer gardens that can only be accessed by boat.

Once our boating circuit was complete, we stopped in for a beer, and of course, to pick up some pickles for the road.

And yes, there really was pickle beer, but I'll let Sam tell you about that in a later post.
